Ahead of the Costa Duarada Cup this April, we had the chance to speak with Ben Lyon from Ryan FC. Ben was able to tell us more about how the U15s team is feeling as the tournament approaches, what they’ve been doing to prepare and what we can expect from Ryan FC as a team.
We asked Ben to tell us what the atmosphere has been like amongst the team as the tournament approaches.
”We are delighted to be here in Spain participating in the Costa Daurada Cup! This is our first overseas competition. We are excited and looking forward to the football.”
Ben was eager to tell us about the team’s recent achievements as they have been preparing to head into an international tournament.
“We have prepared by winning the U15 Saturday London FA Youth Cup on Saturday 8th March! We have 3 teams in the age group, playing across Saturday and Sunday. The travelling party is a mix of the 3 teams.”
Ben shared with us what we can expect to see from Ryan FC, their style of play and player attitude.
“We are a team that likes to play fast football, with an emphasis on pressing high up the pitch and controlling the tempo of the game with possession. We like to compete, try to win and shake hands after the game!”
Discussing with Ben what the Costa Duarada Cup will mean for the boys, how will it benefit them in the future?
“This is a wonderfully exciting opportunity for our players. We are very much looking forward to experiencing a diverse football environment and seeing how other countries approach their football.”
As the Ryan FC prepare to head into the tournament, Ben made sure to leave some advice for the team as they’ll be playing in the sunshine all day!
“Enjoy yourself! Respect the opposition and stay hydrated!”
