In advance of the upcoming Mare Nostrum Easter Cup we had the opportunity to speak with Head Coach, Mike Smith from Banchory Community FC Bulls U15s as they prepare to head into the tournament. Mike gave us an insight into how his team are feeling about the tournament and how they have been preparing to play their best.
Banchory Community Football Club is a Community Club in the North East of Scotland. The Club provides footballing activities from the ages of 5 – 70 plus! The club has something for everyone.
We asked Mike to tell us how the boys are feeling about travelling to Spain and being able to compete in Salou.
“The boys are excited to playing in the sunshine against teams from all across the world!”
Mike was able to tell us how the team have been preparing to compete, particularly how the club has been volunteering and fundraising in their local community.
“The team have been fundraising in the community over the past year to allow the boys to attend the tournament. Local companies have also kindly sponsored sportswear for the boys.”
Prompting Mike to tell us what his team is going to bring to the pitch in the Mare Nostrum Cup, he was eager to share the boys enthusiasm and Scottish strength!
“We will be bringing a Scottish team of determined boys who will put 100% effort into each and every game they play!”
Mike explained to us how this opportunity will benefit the boys in the future as this tournament hosts teams from all over the world.
“It will be a great experience for their future football pathway playing against teams from various countries and different style of player.”
As a final point, we asked Mike to give his team a message of advice before they step out to play in the Spanish sunshine.
“To have fun and enjoy every minute of the experience the tournament will provide and to make lifelong memories!”
We are so excited to have the Banchory Community FC Bulls joining us, and we wish the best of luck in Spain!
