The Newcastle International Summer Cup returned to Newcastle Universityโs Cochrane Park for its second year at the weekend as over 50 teams descended on the north-east of England for two days of football action.
With squads from across the UK taking part in the event there was lots to celebrate as clubs began their preparations for the new season in style.
There was some excellent football on show on both days, with the group stages kicking off bright and early on Saturday 23rd July with teams vying for a place in the knockout stages.
On Sunday the group matches came to a close before the cup and plate competitions got underway with silverware up for grabs.
Away from the football pitch Sunday saw the arrival of world record holder and professional football freestyler John Farnworth who was on hand to share some of his trade secrets with young players from across the age groups while players had to chance to show off their own skills.
As the finals began to get underway and the pressure started to mount, spectators were treated to some of the best moments of the weekend with closely matches teams going head-to-head in the cup and plate in a bid to take a memento home with them.
