“Extremely excited, in an off the scale way!”
We were delighted to catch up with the Worcester City head coach, Simon Lancaster, ahead of the
team’s participation in the 2020 Barcelona Easter Tournament. After some quick internet research,
the famous tournament stood out above others, ticking all the boxes for the club to test themselves
overseas in sunny Spain.
When asked about the main reasons for signing up the group of 34 strong, Simon believed it was an
opportunity too good to let slip, stating that the trip will “create a fantastic once in a lifetime experience
and memories for our boys and their families.”
Fundraising is already well underway with the full group pulling their weight with activities such as bag
packing, energy sapping sponsored runs and even a ‘win a car’ competition!
Simon explained that the international element of the tournament has led to “off the scale” levels of
excitement within the squad, whilst the group are also itching to get a behind scenes look of FC
Barcelona’s iconic Camp Nou during their stadium tour.
Simon went on to discuss how the coaching staff and the squad are really looking forward to testing themselves against different styles of play, something that he is hopeful the boys can learn from when they return to the domestic scene.
Everyone at Trans World Soccer would like to wish the very best of luck to Worcester City at the 2020
Barcelona Easter Cup – we are sure that the experience will create memories for life!
