Fletcher Moss Rangers | #MeetTheTeams | Holland Easter Open 2026

Next up in our #MeetTheTeams series, we caught up with Fletcher Moss Rangers U11 Falcons manager Gareth Powell as the team set off on their journey overseas for this year’s Holland Easter Open.

To get the ball rolling, we asked Gareth to introduce the club and share how they are feeling ahead of the tournament.

“Fletcher Moss are a grassroots club based in Manchester with really strong links to the community.

The mood is fantastic within the team. We’ve been on a really strong run recently and the lads are heading into the tournament full of confidence.

It’s the first time many of them have been abroad playing football, so the excitement is through the roof.”

Gareth also gave us an insight into how the Falcons have been preparing for their footballing adventure.

“As we prepared to head over, fitness has been our number one priority.

Shifting from 9v9 at home to 8v8 in Holland means more ground to cover and more space to manage, so we’ve been pushing our limits to ensure we’re match-ready.

Beyond the cardio, we’ve focused heavily on tactical discipline—maintaining our shape and closing gaps quickly to deal with that extra space on the pitch.”

The manager then spoke about how beneficial the tournament will be for the young squad and what they’ll bring to the competition.

“Playing against different teams is hugely beneficial for development. It gives the boys a chance to improve their skills, adapt, and build mental toughness against strong and varied opposition.

On the pitch, we like to attack, so we’ll bring a no-nonsense, attack-minded mentality—which is always exciting in tournament football. Off the pitch, the lads will have loads of fun.

They’re a sociable group and will chat to anyone, making friends wherever they go.”

To wrap up, Gareth left the boys with a final message as they set off:

“Go out, enjoy it, play with a smile, and give it your all.”

The U11 Falcons captain also shared how the squad are feeling as they travel out to Holland today:

“We’re proud to represent Fletcher Moss in Holland. It means a lot to us because we’re such a tight group with a great bond, and this experience will only make us stronger. We’re going over full of confidence.”
