Ahead of the Mare Nostrum Easter Cup. We had the opportunity to speak with the Spartans FC Whites (2012) coach, Alasdair Proudfoot who gave us some insight into how the club looks forward to their trip to Spain.
To get the ball rolling we asked Alasdair to introduce the club and share how they are feeling about the upcoming tournament.
“We are a community-based club based in Edinburgh, Scotland playing in the southeast of Scotland regional leagues. Excitement is building amongst the players. They are very keen to get to the tournament and have a great time!”
Alasdair took us behind the scenes of Spartans FC Whites’ preparation, offering a glimpse into the team’s rigorous training and the professional attitude they’re bringing to the tournament.
“We have been in the middle of a bust run of league and cup fixtures, but we have still managed to do a bit of fundraising. We will bring a good attitude, sportsmanship and a desire to mix and make friends.”
By going out to Spain to compete Alasdair shares why he believes the tournament will be beneficial for the players.
“This will be an amazing experience for the boys. To play opposition you know nothing about is a fantastic challenge and one I hope they all benefit from.”
To wrap up our interview, Alasdair gave the boys a quick word of encouragement.
“Enjoy it and give it your best effort.”
The Spartans captain emphasised with us just how much this opportunity means to all the players.
“We are really looking forward to forward to representing the wider Spartans FC at this tournament – it will be great fun and a great experience!”
